Terms of service

1. Who you are contracting with

TeacherKit is operated by [Operator legal name], [Registered address] (“we”, “us”). You can reach a human at [E-posta adresi].

If you are booking for a child, you are entering into this agreement as their parent or legal guardian, and you confirm you are entitled to do so. See children and consent, which forms part of these terms.

2. What the service is

TeacherKit gives a student a link to a one-to-one lesson taught by an AI teacher. During the lesson the teacher speaks with the student in real time, writes and draws on a whiteboard, may ask to look at a single camera frame, and can read files the student places on the board. After the lesson it writes notes and produces a homework sheet.

Two things follow from that, and we would rather say them here than in a footnote:

• The teacher is software, not a person. It is not a licensed teacher, a tutor with a qualification, a psychologist, or an assessor. Nothing it says is a diagnosis of a learning difficulty or a professional evaluation of a child.
• It can be wrong. It is a large language model teaching out loud. It is instructed not to invent things, and it is built to say when it could not see or could not hear — but it can still make mistakes, including confident ones. Anything that matters should be checked.

3. Booking, joining and cancelling

• Lessons are booked for a specific start time and length. Lengths between 5 and 180 minutes are accepted; 60 minutes is the default.
• Slots run on a 30-minute grid, open up to 14 days ahead, and close 15 minutes before they start.
• The lesson link admits the student from 10 minutes before the start until 15 minutes after it. Outside that window it will not open.
• If nobody joins, the room closes itself 10 minutes after the door opens and the lesson is treated as unattended.
• Public booking is rate-limited to six bookings per ten minutes from one network address. If you need more, ask us and we will book them.
• You can cancel a booked lesson yourself, from your own page: open the lesson and choose “Dersi iptal et”. The page tells you what the refund will be before you confirm, and asks twice.
• Cancelling more than 12 hours before the start refunds the full amount you paid, to the card you paid with. Inside that window the hour has been held for you and the fee is not refunded automatically — write to us if something happened.
• A cancelled lesson frees its slot immediately, so somebody else can take the hour.
• If friends shared the lesson, each person is refunded to their own card. Cancelling as the person who booked it cancels the lesson for everyone.
• To move a lesson rather than cancel it, write to [E-posta adresi] before it starts.

4. The lesson link is the key

A lesson link and a notes-page link are unguessable tokens. There is no password and no account. Anyone holding a link can use what it opens, so treat both like a house key: send them to the people who should have them and nobody else. Tell us if a link is exposed and we will retire it.

5. Fair use

You agree not to:

• use the service to cheat in a supervised examination or to pass off its work as a student's own where that is prohibited;
• upload material you have no right to share, including other people's personal data, or anything unlawful;
• attempt to extract the teacher's instructions, attack the service, or use it to generate content unrelated to teaching;
• resell or rebrand lessons as your own tutoring service without a written agreement with us;
• use it to harass, or to interact with a child you are not responsible for.

We can end a lesson or refuse further bookings if any of this happens.

6. Availability, and what happens when it breaks

We do not offer an uptime guarantee. The service depends on a third-party model provider and on your own connection, and either can fail.

What we do commit to: the lesson is designed to survive connection loss without ending, and it is tested against real connection failures before every release. If a lesson fails so badly that it cannot be taught — not a pause, but a lesson that did not happen — write to us and we will re-run it.

7. Payment

Lessons are paid for at the moment they are booked, not afterwards. The price is shown on the booking page before you confirm, and again on the confirm button itself, so no amount is ever charged that you have not just read.

• Where the card lives. Payments are handled by iyzico, a licensed Turkish payment institution. Card details are entered on iyzico's own payment page and stored by iyzico. They never pass through this website or reach our servers. All we hold is what a person needs to recognise their own card — the brand and the last four digits — plus opaque references iyzico uses to identify it.
• Your first payment saves the card. There is no separate “add a card” step: the card is stored when you pay for your first lesson, which is what makes every later booking a single tap. You can remove it at any time from your own page, and removing it does not cancel a lesson you have already paid for.
• While you are paying, the hour is yours. Choosing a slot holds it for 15 minutes so it cannot be taken while you are on the payment page. If you do not finish, the hold expires and the hour goes back to whoever wants it — nothing is charged.
• When you are charged. The fee is taken when the reservation is made. If the card refuses, no lesson is created and the slot stays free for whoever books it next — you are never left holding a booking you did not pay for, or a charge without a booking.
• Sharing with friends. A lesson has one fee, split by head count. Each person pays their own share. If somebody joins later, everyone's share drops and anyone who has already overpaid is credited the difference — nothing is written off quietly.
• Refunds. As set out in section 3. Refunds go back to the card that paid, and can take a few days to appear depending on your bank.
• Your record. Every charge and refund is listed on your own page, so you can check it against your statement.
• Prices are in Turkish lira and include any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. We may change prices for future bookings; a lesson you have already paid for is not repriced.

If a lesson is paid for and cannot be taught for a reason on our side, we re-run it or refund it — your choice.

8. Your content, and ours

Work the student brings — files, drawings on the board, what they say — stays theirs. You grant us only the permission needed to run the lesson: to process that material to teach it, to store the lesson record, and to produce the notes and homework.

The notes and homework produced for a lesson are yours to keep, print and share.

The software, the site and the teaching design remain ours.

9. Self-hosting

If you run TeacherKit on your own machine, you are the operator of that installation: the data is on your hardware, the API key is yours, and these terms cover only the service we run. We provide no warranty for a self-hosted installation.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for exam results, academic outcomes, or decisions taken on the basis of something the teacher said. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Changes

We may change these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new version line, and where we hold a contact address for you we will tell you before they take effect. Continuing to book lessons after that means you accept them.

12. Ending it

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete everything we hold — see the privacy policy. We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if we stop offering the service, in which case we will give you your students' notes and homework first.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of [Country of establishment], and disputes go to the [City] courts, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
